3CON’s core competence is the development and manufacturing of specialised systems for the leading automotive industry across the globe. Highly innovative technologies for the series production of automotive interiors are developed and implemented in the headquarters in Ebbs, Tirol as well as in the subsidiaries in Wixom, Michigan, Mexico and China.
In the Michigan plant, ten highly-qualified specialists from Tirol, together with their 50 co-workers, ensure the overseas success of 3CON in North America. Due to the supply bottlenecks resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic, the public authorities in Detroit were looking for partners to manufacture surgical gowns for the American hospitals as soon as possible. Therefore, 3CON, who is known as an expert in automation, immediately formulated a manufacturing concept for the production of sterile surgical gowns. After the order was placed, the 3CON production facility was converted into an assembly line virtually overnight, and the production of surgical gowns could begin. Thanks to their dedication and expertise, the ten Tyrolean employees of the US subsidiary played a significant role in the extraordinarily quick and successful completion of the order.
3CON already delivered the first 4,000 gowns that are essential work clothing for doctors and hospital staff. According to Roman Pumpernick, the Operations Manager of the American 3CON plant, the production of the gowns will continue to expand. In the next weeks, it will be converted into a 3-shift model. The plant will run around the clock 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Thus, making it possible to produce up to 30,000 gowns per week.
