EXEMPLARY EUROPEAN COMPANY IN CHENGDU, CHINA

On the 15th of October, 2020, Qingbao Niu, Deputy Mayor of Chengdu, visited the 3CON site in Chengdu City, China, together with a delegation of foreign consular representatives from 16 countries. The purpose of this visit was to mark the move of the 3CON subsidiary from the Wenjiang District to the Chengdu New East District which took place in May 2019. We are thus the first European company to move into the emerging city district.

In the last ten years, the city of Chengdu has evolved into the economic metropolis of China thanks to the government initiative for the new Silk Road, which carries the name, “One-Belt-One-Road”. It is also the hub of the commodity flow between Asia and Europe. Chengdu is one of the key locations in Asia and one of the most important sites worldwide, especially for the industrial sectors mechanical engineering, the chemical industry, aircraft manufacturing and the pharmaceutical industry.

Among other things, the newly expanded railway network and the construction of an additional airport – International Airport Tianfu (opening in 2021) – benefit the Eurasian trade relations. The freight transport with the direct train from Chengdu to Vienna is one example of this. The journey on the 9 800 km route now only takes 14 days, making it four weeks faster than conventional transport by sea.

“The short distance to the new airport and the proximity to the automotive industrial region, Longquan, are two primary reasons prompting our decision to move our 3CON site into the new city district. First and foremost, we need – thanks to the outstanding company development in the last three years – additional production and office facilities. The optimal location and modern architecture in Jianzhou New Town were not the only decisive factors in our decision to move there. The promising infrastructure and traffic concept, which is currently in the detail planning phase and partially in the building phase, also played a critical role in our decision.” explained Ko Chuang, Managing Director of 3CON Machinery.

Since the move, numerous national delegations have visited the 3CON site – including state representatives from Germany, Switzerland and the Consul General, Dr Allgäuer from Austria, the home of 3CON. We look forward to additional visits from across the world and wish to thank Qingbao Niu, Deputy Mayor of Chengdu, for his attendance. It was a great honour for us.
