OPERATION IN GRAND STYLE

On 06.10. there was an alarm at the 3CON headquarters Ebbs in Tyrol. The fire departments Ebbs, Buchberg, Kufstein, Rettenschöss, Niederndorf, Erl, Walchsee, the Samariter Bund Tirol and the Red Cross Kufstein arrived. But don't worry, only for rehearsal!

The nearly 170 emergency personnel with a total of 37 firefighting and rescue vehicles and the 3CON security team practiced the emergency at the 35,000 m2 company site. Michael Leitner, head of operations for the joint exercise and commander of the Ebbs Volunteer Fire Department: "Exercise opportunities on this scale and with such a realistic scenario are not something we have so often. In particular, the coordination, division of tasks, communication and coordination among so many individual response teams was a special feature".

At regular intervals, 3CON invites the emergency services in the area to a trial run "Such trials are enormously important to us. We expanded our production areas in 2020/21. Since then, we have not had a single rehearsal. It is reassuring to know that the surrounding emergency services have now become familiar with the new area," explains 3CON safety officer Hannes Rabl.

As a result of the staged gas explosion with heavy smoke formation and an industrial truck accident, a total of 47 people (extras) with various degrees of injury were successfully rescued and given first aid. But not only the exercise missions were successful that day, but also 2 special tests. "We made double use of this special opportunity and situation. In this operational framework, we were also able to take two examinations for the head of operations, which were passed with flying colors," explains Roland Volland, exercise leader Red Cross Kufstein, satisfied.
